Contact & Corrections

Effective 13 October 2026 · last revised 13 October 2026

Plain-language summary: BALA is operated by the maintainers of Web Services Farouk Pandor. Wrong content costs candidates marks, so there is a published route to report it and a commitment to correct it in public. Security problems have their own private route. Nothing here asks you for an account.

Who operates this service

BALA Masego (including balamasego.pages.dev) is operated by the maintainers of the Web Services Farouk Pandor / BALA open-source project. The code, this notice, and every correction made to the content are public in that repository.

BALA is not operated by, affiliated with, or endorsed by the Botswana Examinations Council, Cambridge Assessment International Education, or any school. It is not an examination centre and cannot enter a candidate for any qualification.

Reporting a content error (the correction route)

If a worked example, mark scheme, answer key, exam date, or syllabus claim looks wrong — treat it as wrong until it is checked, and tell us:

  1. Open a Content correction issue at github.com/WebServicesFaroukPandor/BALA/issues (a GitHub account is needed to file; read the existing issues without one).
  2. Give the question/topic code, what the app says, what it should say, and how you know (your own working, your teacher, the current syllabus). Do not post personal data or your candidate number.

The commitment: every confirmed content error is corrected in a public commit, and an announcement is posted on the same issue. Until a report is resolved, verify the material with a qualified teacher — especially before an examination. Corrections to mark schemes are treated as urgent and take priority over all other work.

Security and privacy reports

Do not post vulnerabilities, keys, or personal data in public issues. Use the repository's Private vulnerability reporting (Security tab) as described in SECURITY.md. For how the app handles data, read Privacy & Data.

Proposing a new subject engine

Question banks and mark schemes are only published for subjects where a qualified subject specialist has written and reviewed them. If that is you, see the subject-engine guide and open a Subject engine proposal issue. Plausible-looking unreviewed content is deliberately refused: a confident but wrong mark scheme costs a candidate marks they would otherwise have won.

What this route is not

It is not a tutoring service, a school, a marking service for your own scripts, or a way to appeal a grade. Grades are awarded by the examination boards only. BALA marks practice inside the app and nowhere else.
